Because these birds prefer shaded and sheltered environments, this house has the highest occupancy chances when hung using the included rope under the protection of hardy tree branches that are 5 to 10 feet above the ground. The sturdy, pitched roof overhangs the 1" diameter entry and ensures the inside of the house remains dry, although the entry hole should also be directed away from the usual direction of the rain. The house features a hinged panel with latch, allowing for you and your child to observe the teeny visitors as well as clean the piece, which should be done at least once a year and typically before nesting season in spring. The included instructions feature a fun coloring sheet, and the six included, differently-colored acrylic paints, two paintbrushes, and sticker sheet with various birds allow your child to decorate the house and stoke his or her artistic passion.
