Bristol Cottage Bird House Yellow - Infuse your yard with a touch of the northeast coast using the Yellow Bristol Cottage Bird House. Yellow and red hues are accented by white trim and an unfinished, wood roof, reminiscent of coastal, New England homes. Painted white railings and columns on the home's front porch support its roof and are adorned with decorative woodwork, making for an attention grabbing piece. The shingled flat roof above the porch becomes a gabled roof with a dormer on its front side, which features one of the five windows present on the house. Two windows below complement the red imitation door, while one on each side of the house contains imitation flower boxes holding faux red flowers. A 1.25" diameter entrance for your feathered friends rests below the roof line on one side of the shelter, and a signifcant panel on the rear removes for cleaning and nest checks. A mesh ladder inside the large chamber helps fledglings climb upward and leave the roost. A single hole in the center of the base assists with drainage of accumulating moisture inside the home, while three holes just beneath the porch roof allow for adequate ventilation and a comfortable nesting destination. The house can be mounted against a wall or post using the 5.75" long, dog-eared plank that swivels upward, or may be attached to a mounting plate (not included) for placement atop a pole or post. Should you wish to preserve the finish (paint) on this home, you should select a polyurethane product that is recommended for marine use (UV rated) that will not turn the white paint yellow. You should expect that once left outdoors, the product will weather and require refinishing.
