This functional nest box has a shallow box design for resisting sparrows. Research from the University of Kentucky found that bluebirds will readily use a slot entry, while sparrows prefer a round hole. This same research also found that bluebirds do not mind a shallow home, although sparrows will leave a nest that is not deep. Thus, these striking homes use all this data to create durable and welcoming bluebird roosts.
